Laius McCormick is a fresh of breath air when it comes to working with the youth. She stands for love, equality for all and assisting our youth in reaching their highest potential in achieving their island of competence. Laius experience started when she became a counselor in training (CIT) for Arts Camp with the city if Oakland, when she was 13 years of age. She continued her passion for helping disabled adults to live independently for 15 years. During that time in her life, she acquired many certifications on Human Development services. Laius tested positive for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2013. She fought with two battles and came out the victory after having stem cell therapy at Stanford Hospital. She was unable to continue working due to treatments. After the first remission, she began to volunteer with the after-school program where her children attended. Laius acquired a position within the company as a parent volunteer. She achieved and held every position within that organization. She worked her way up to Programmatic Director. She felt that the job was not giving her enough time to assist with the youth in their development. She stepped down and continued to be the site manager of the after-school program where she currently works.
