Kim is thrilled to be joining EDMO for the 21/22 school year as an online academic coach. Kim has worked as an elementary and middle school classroom teacher, special education teacher, and educational therapist in California where she earned her master's degree in educational therapy. Previously, Kim earned bachelor's degrees in elementary education and writing arts from Rowan University in New Jersey. In addition to homeschooling her niece and nephew for the second year, Kim will be offering educational therapy style coaching to young learners in math, reading, and phonics skills (Orton-Gillingham based). Educational therapy seeks to create a safe, supportive, and carefully scaffolded tutoring space in which learners can find success in areas of struggle with a trusted teacher who understands and respects diversity in learning styles, challenges, and histories. Kim wishes to bring that lens to EDMO coaching and serve kids by helping them fill foundational academic gaps and build confidence. Kim lives on her family's farm in Colorado and in addition to learning and teaching, is passionate about permaculture farming, beekeeping, and hiking with her dog.
