EDMO Coaches can bring their passion for literature to help your kid dive in deeper into the texts they are reading in class. EDMO Coaches help kids learn to interpret literature from around the world while deepening their passion for reading. EDMO Coaches can focus on particular authors or provide support on specific concepts covered in kids' schoolwork. Materials required: paper and writing utensil

Emily Cline

Emily Cline is excited to be an EDMO Coach! She is currently an undergraduate student at UCLA studying environmental science with concentrations in conservation biology and GIS. Emily loves working with kids because of the unique connections you can make and the invaluable perspective that kids have to offer. She is passionate about education, and believes that learning should be an immersive, engaging experience for all.

Gavin Wilmoth

Gavin is excited to be joining EDMO for his first year as instructor! For the past two years, Gavin has taught English (literature, writing) and Music (piano, violin, voice, theory and history) online from fourth grade to college level. He is passionate about a liberal arts education including the academics and the arts, and loves working with children across the nation. He graduated from Concordia University Irvine in 2020 where he majored in Humanities- Music Education and also minored in music. He is living in Orange County California going to school as a graduate student majoring in a Master's of Music History and Literature at California State University Fullerton.

Nicole Carlson

Nicole is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Cinema with a double minor in Animation and Computing Applications. She has chosen to pursue education because she believes technological skills are important to have in this new age of technology! Nicole is passionate about animation, programming, film, and art. Her favorite things to do when she’s not studying are drawing, painting, playing tennis, and surfing.

Jacqueline Chis

Jackie is excited to be a part of the EDMO team. She has had so much fun being a camp instructor, and is excited to continue working with the EDMO method. Jackie is a Masters of Education student working on her teaching licensure at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Her concentration is in secondary education and English but is excited to learn with children of all ages, K-12. She believes that learning should be centered around growth, curiosity, and each of our own individual needs.

Valeria Vallejo

Valeria is currently majoring in Computer Science at San Francisco State University. As the oldest in her family, she has always been the source of entertainment for her younger siblings and cousins. Last summer, she worked as an EDMO Tech Instructor and absolutely loved how curious all of the campers were about computers and programming. Along with tech, she also loves learning about different cultures and languages, especially through art and literature. She hopes that she can one day make foreign languages and cultures more accessible and exciting for children through programming games and websites.

Annie Lockmiller

Annie received a B.A. in Sociology from UC Berkeley, and will complete her M.A. in Guidance and Counseling from San Jose State in December 2020. Annie's goal in education is to make a connection with every student she works with. She seeks to help kids develop through compassion and exploring their interests. Annie is dedicated to promoting social justice and cultural awareness to help students develop an informed and open-minded perspective on the world. She also believes in laughter and fun in education. She has experience in working with students in STEM fields as well as Social and Emotional Learning. She has experience with academic and career counseling, and has worked with children from ages 3-18.

Jordie Marie Rippon

Jordie Marie Rippon is A graduate student studying Creative Producing and Management at CalArts. She has previously received a Bachelor's of Science in Technology Communication and Theater. She loves to create an environment that makes it fun to learn and loves to encourage and empower kids to think about problems differently as a tool to help solve the problem.

Paula Nordstrom Miranda

Paula is someone who truly values diverse interests and passions. As an older sister, she has loved working with kids and helping them learn. She is pursuing a B.A. in English Literature, minor in Global Public Health, and a Pre-Med track at UC Berkeley. Her passions are fighting for equal health opportunities for disadvantaged youth and building relationships with different communities. Ever since she was young, Paula’s mother has always told her that the one thing that no one can take away from is her education. However, children today continue to face various educational barriers and Paula hopes to help ensure equal educational opportunities for everyone. She values all education and loves to teach a wide variety of subjects. She really loves reading, playing with her dogs, and exploring new ways that she can be involved with her community.

Victoria Valencia

Victoria is a creative individual who has an interest in many different fields of work and study. From a young age she was always involved in after-school programs and extracurricular enrichment, and this has spurred her to tutor and coach various age groups and skill levels. She has a passion for community driven activities, strong commitment to positive development and growth, and an interest in mentoring young adults through shared experience. Victoria has a B.A. in English from San Diego State. She volunteers as a Zumba Instructor for SF Park and Rec, has previous experience as an Assistant Varsity Basketball coach, and this past summer worked as an EDMO Maker Instructor.

She believes that motivating and directing others in a supportive, cooperative, and collaborative way leads to an engaging and FUN learning environment.

Mary Cron

Mary Cron specializes as an English tutor and values teaching young minds how to master the written word while also building self confidence. When Mary was a young student, she had tutors who gave her the self confidence and tools to pursue her dreams. And it is her passion to pass on the same enthusiasm to other young minds. She loves working with kids because as much as she is teaching them, they are teaching her about their world and perspectives. She has extensive experience tutoring in various levels that range from English Composition all the way up to Advanced Placement Literature. In addition, she has an Associates Degree in English Literature while currently working towards her BA at California State University Chico. Mary's passion is to teach young minds about the written word while also giving them confidence in how to express themselves.

Kera Marie Bruce

Kera is a recent graduate from Stanislaus State University with a degree in Art History and a minor in Anthropology. Her passion for the arts an culture shows through her methodology, combining arts, crafts, history and social-emotional learning in each of her lessons. Her priorities in each session include providing a patient and creative space for children to learn and discover their own interests and strengths.
