Calligraphy

Take your cursive writing skills a big step farther, and infuse words with artistic expression! EDMO coaches will work with kids who have mastered basic writing skills, whether they have taken calligraphy classes before or not, to wield broad-tipped pens or brushes. In these sessions, kids will practice entrance strokes (both thin upstrokes and thick downstrokes) and then move to more advanced techniques to establish their own individual style. A contemporary calligraphic practice can be defined as "the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious, and skillful manner." Required materials: Calligraphy pens, ink, paper (graph paper preferred), pencil, eraser, and ruler
