Opening Week
STEAMXSPACE Opening Week
In this kickoff week of camp, kids will get an overview of all the SEL words, also know as SPACE (Self-Awareness, Problem Solving, Advocacy, Collaboration, Empathy), that will be integrated into all EDMO curriculum. Kids will also get to try their hand at projects that encompass all of the STEAM subjects. Meanwhile, they will also learn all about the rules of camp while making friends with their fellow classmates!
Bio Science
Bugs & Insects
In this class, kids will learn all about bugs and insects. From spiders to stick bugs kids will explore adaptations, habitats and camouflage techniques that insects use to stay alive. We will also explore the ways in which bugs and insects impact our lives for the better!
Art
Mini Artists
Throughout this theme, kids will get to practice their artistic expression through the lens of painting, sculpting and drawing. They will construct 3D sculptures that mimic art festivals, learning how to mold clay into fun designs and learn about different styles of painting. Kids will explore many forms of artistic expression while making colorful creative works of art.
Art & Lit
Creative Stories
Kids will use art as a fun and creative way to practice their literacy skills. They will explore the literary series created by Laura Numeroff as they learn how to create their own stories and design art projects based on the books. Kids will practice empathy and collaboration in learning how to work with others as we merge the creative worlds of art and literature.
Engineering
Engineering Play
This theme is all about the engineering design process of play, modify, build, and test. Kids will start by exploring materials, understanding a challenge/goal and build models, tools and structures to complete those challenges. They will have the opportunity to practice collaborative builds and problem solving with their team along with some individual designs. Kids will make model towers, race tracks, and more as they learn how to be an engineer.
Cubetto
Tiny Techies
In this class, kids will learn about computational thinking and coding through the Cubetto robot. Screenless, friendly and ready to play, Cubetto, will teach kids the core concepts of coding. Through interaction with Cubetto, kids will plan, program and debug sequences of blocks that make Cubetto move. Using coding concepts, kids will have Cubetto solve puzzles, tell stories and venture across oceans, deserts, and worlds of their own creation!
