EDMO Curriculum Themes

At EDMO, we believe in providing top-notch, year-round out-of-classroom programming for kids. Our approach to education is multi-layered, allowing kids to gain hard skills in STEAM and develop their social and emotional intelligence through The EDMO Method. To ensure the highest quality of our programs, we have our own in-house curriculum team that writes brand new STEAM and SEL curriculum each summer and school year. Our dedicated and well-trained staff members educate by example and embody the EDMO mission.

Summer Kickoff
This week is all about building connections, setting expectations, and creating a fun and welcoming environment for everyone! As we kick off our adventure together, kids will have the opportunity to get to know one another through exciting icebreakers, team challenges, and creative activities designed to foster friendships. We’ll also explore the rules and expectations that help make camp a safe and enjoyable place for all.

Dino Explorers
This week, our little explorers will go on a fun journey to discover the world of dinosaurs! We will hatch dinos, excavate dino bones and create dino fossils. Kids will express their creativity as they make dino puppets and costumes then play dino-themed games. Along the way, we’ll also learn how to understand our feelings and be kind to others. It’s going to be a roaring good time!

Code Creators
This week, kids will dive into the exciting world of coding with Scratch Jr.! Through interactive and hands-on activities, they will explore the basics of programming by creating their own stories, animations, and simple games. Using Scratch Jr.’s fun, block-based coding system, kids will learn how to sequence events, use loops, and bring their ideas to life—all while developing problem-solving skills and creativity. No prior experience is needed; just curiosity and a willingness to explore!

Astro Adventures
This week in Astro Adventure, where kids will explore the sun, moon, and stars! We’ll learn how planets move around the sun, create marble paintings of the planets, and discover many fascinating objects in space. Along the way, we’ll practice collaboration and advocacy, so everyone feels heard and happy. Get ready for an out-of-this-world adventure!

Tiny Tales
This week, kids will dive into storybooks and help bring them to life! Kids will listen to a variety of stories covering math, science, art, and engineering topics. They will practice letter writing, letter recognition, and rhyming words. These skills are the foundations for learning how to read and write as they start their education journey!

Mathmazing
This week, we make math fun, applicable, and accessible to kids through interactive games, crafts, and literacy. Using engaging activities like bingo, ball toss, music, and rhythm, kids will get to practice counting skills along with number grouping and simple addition. Kids will build skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and self-awareness as we explore the world of numbers through art and games.

As the week progresses, kids will work together to design and build their very own Mars Rover, using creativity and problem-solving skills to engineer a model capable of exploring the Red Planet. Get ready for a week full of discovery, imagination, and an exciting mission to Mars!

This week, kids will dive into the exciting world of robotics! Using the Ozobot Evo robot, kids will learn to code using colors and block-based coding. They will complete challenges designed to strengthen their problem-solving and computational thinking skills. Kids will also learn about sequencing, loops, and conditionals as they collaborate with partners to learn coding through robotics!

Aqua Engineers
This week, our little engineers will dive into the wonderful world of water! We’ll explore how water moves, create cool water experiments, and build fun things like water balloon launchers and boats from recycled materials. Along the way, we’ll practice problem-solving and learn how to collaborate as a team. It’s going to be a splashy, creative adventure!

Storybook Studio
This week, kids will bring storybooks to life! Each day, a new story will help guide the projects and activities we do. Throughout the week, kids will also be focused on strengthening their reading and writing skills. Kids will also work on their collaboration and self-awareness skills as they work together to write, plan for, and perform their very own puppet show.
Math
Game Factory
This week, kids will have a blast exploring the world of games while strengthening their math skills along the way! From exciting dice games to classic bingo, they’ll practice counting, probability, strategy, and problem-solving in a fun and interactive way. By the end of the week, kids will put their creativity to the test by designing their very own board game or card game, using math concepts to shape the rules and gameplay.

This week, kids will become transportation engineers as they explore the exciting world of moving people and goods across land, air, and water! The journey begins with an introduction to the engineering design process, and throughout the week, they’ll dive into hands-on projects, designing and building their own cars, planes, and boats. To cap off their adventure, kids will take on an exciting final challenge—engineering a multi-transport vehicle that can travel across different terrains! Motion Mechanics

Passport to Creativity
This week, kids will read exciting books about art from all over the globe and create amazing projects inspired by artwork from every continent! They'll have their very own passport to stamp as they "travel" to different countries and explore unique art styles. Along the way, they’ll practice advocacy and empathy as they learn about the culture and art around the world. Get ready for an artistic adventure full of fun, learning, and creativity!

Math All Around Us
This week, kids will discover that math is all around us in the world! Through a variety of fun and interactive activities, they’ll explore how math plays a role in nature, art, sports, and even the games we play. They’ll also dive into how numbers and shapes come into play in sports strategies and scoring systems, and explore math through fun games that challenge their thinking. By the end of the week, kids will have a deeper appreciation for the math that surrounds us every day, all while having fun and staying creative!

This week, kids will learn how to use a variety of coding methods to control the Ozobot robot, Evo. Designed for learners at every stage, the Ozobot robot can be coded through a variety of methods. In order to bring their robot to life, kids will learn the fundamentals of computer science including sequencing, variables, loops, and conditionals. Kids will also practice their problem-solving and collaboration skills as they work in teams to complete a variety of coding challenges.

This week, kids will explore the exciting world of motors, circuits, and electrical engineering! They'll work on projects like building their own simple electric motor, creating characters that light up, constructing a bot to test conductivity, and making cool projects like paper helicopters and propeller cars. They'll learn how circuits work and how to bring their ideas to life with hands-on engineering. Get ready for an adventure full of creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration!

This week, kids will dive into the world of ceramics and art, where they’ll learn the creative techniques of working with air-dry clay! They’ll start by mastering the art of pinch pots, shaping the clay with their hands to create unique bowls and containers. Then, they’ll explore the coil method, where they’ll build up clay coils to form intricate and textured pieces. Through hands-on projects, kids will discover the process of molding, shaping, and adding personal touches to their creations.

Future Founders of Fashion
This week, kids will tap into their entrepreneurial creativity through the lens of fashion and marketing. In Future Founders, kids will work together to create fashion pieces, brand logos, and digital marketing materials as founders of their very own creative brand. Kids will work to create cool fashion designs as well as get behind the camera to learn how to shoot and market their creative vision. Kids will work through collaboration, problem-solving, and advocacy as they design eye-catching videos and use fashion as an avenue of expression.
