EDMO's Teacher Pathways Program offers incredible benefits for EDMO staff members who are pursuing a teaching credential, including financial assistance, teaching credential credits, academic/testing support and professional development opportunities.
At EDMO, we believe in uplifting expanded learning beyond the classroom – and that includes nurturing the next generation of educators!
Powered by partnerships with the Butte County Office of Education (BCOE) and the Classified Employee Grant (CEG), The Teacher Pathways Program offers a unique opportunity for aspiring educators. We're dedicated to empowering instructional aides, tutors, and other classified staff, providing them with the essential resources, comprehensive support, and personalized guidance needed to become fully credentialed teachers. This initiative creates a clear, supportive path for committed individuals to advance their careers and impact more students.
Do I have to live in Butte County to enroll in this program?
No! This opportunity is available statewide to classified employees who are interested in pursuing a teaching credential. The Grant EDU course is 100% online.
What is a classified employee?
If you work in EDMO’s programs, you qualify as a classified employee in California! In education, “classified” simply means you’re part of the essential school staff who don’t have a teaching credential. This includes roles like paraeducators, office staff, custodians, bus drivers, and food service workers — all the people who help schools run every day. So if you’re supporting kids through EDMO’s programs, you meet this definition.
Other than financial support, what types of support will I receive under this program?
You will also gain access to other resources, including but not limited to:
• Academic resources such as Study.com and BrainPop
• Custom career development guidance and mentorship via your own personal mentor
• Test preparation assistance
Which credentials should I pursue to be eligible for the grant?
• Multiple Subject Credential
• Single Subject Credential
• Education Specialist Instruction Credential
• PK-3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential
Participants must be pursuing their first teaching credential, as the grant does not fund those who already hold a preliminary or cleared credential.
What credentials are NOT funded by the grant?
• Career Technical Education (CTE)
• Pupil Personnel Services (PPS)
• School Counseling Speech-Language Pathology Services (SPS)
• Teacher Librarian Services (TLS)
What is a commitment letter?
The commitment letter is an agreement between you and the grant program that lists all grant requirements a participant must adhere to. You will receive support in completing this commitment letter, and you will need to submit this letter every year to remain in good standing and receive grant funds.
What is an Individualized Pathway Plan?
Your Individualized Pathway Plan is a tool that you and your Educational Advisor will create together and use to guide you through your unique teacher pathway journey. It takes into account your current educational status, and outlines your academic goals and next steps.
